Become a corporate citizen
Seventeen people were diagnosed yesterday with brain cancer. Seventeen people are being diagnosed to day and seventeen will be tomorrow. Someone in your company will know someone who has a brain tumour. Or, more likely, will know of someone who has died from brain cancer.
There is a growing recognition of the importance of partnerships between profit and non profit organisations. Working collaboratively, we can deliver results that neither of us could achieve alone.
Our partners
Here are some of our partners and examples of the ways in which they have given brainstrust their support:
Stairway has provided design services for our newsletters the DeckLog and Logbook and Cards. They have covered all our printing and stationery costs for the Christmas and Greeting Cards that we sell. This means that for every card sold, brainstrust receives 100% of the income.
Last Christmas, Leeds-based marketing agency Brahm sent an e-card instead of their usual card in the post. They donated the savings on stationery and printing costs to brainstrust. Thank you, Brahm!
Peter Duggal and the Nativespace team took one look at our website and decided to provide provide our lightning fast web hosting for free.
Scott Redgrave of ASR Photography was very happy to shoot the first professional photos of our icon Meg for free.
How can brainstrust benefit your company?
It is obvious how brainstrust can benefit from corporate social responsibility. Indeed, we wouldn’t have got to where we have today without our much needed support from our collaborators. Stairway Communications, for example, has provided us with all our printed leaflets and newsletters and designed our Have you lost your way? booklet with our advice for patients. Other companies have helped in much smaller, but no less important ways. But how can working with brainstrust be of benefit to you and your organisation?
- Working with brainstrust can help you attune corporate antennae to important new trends;
- We can enhance your reputation among your customers, current and potential stakeholders, and employees. Philanthropic support generates good will and demonstrates corporate commitment to the community;
- We can provide you with access to new markets, networks and targeted audiences;
- Working with the combined efforts of your own PR and our media team, we can bring you publicity;
- We can help you to generate revenue; adding social value to products encourages market penetration;
- There is mounting external pressure for companies to ‘do more’. Companies are increasingly screened for good environmental, social and governance practices. We can help you to ‘do more’;
- Together we can create and participate in initiatives which will have a two way benefit;
- And of course – that lovely philanthropic feeling which comes with charitable giving and achieving social good.
How can your company support brainstrust?
brainstrust has focused and measurable goals. We too seek rigorous and radical results. We too are vision driven. But we need your help to do achieve our aims.
So, if you would like to come aboard the good ship brainstrust and invest in corporate social responsibility, then here are some routes open to you:
-
Sponsor an event
brainstrust holds many different, high profile and exciting events during the year, which include Henley Royal Regatta, Tapas Evenings, Golf Days, and our annual brainstrust Ball. These pull in an equally varied and exciting audience! There are opportunities for your company to be involved through our whole or part sponsorship programme. This can take the form of advertising, purchase of corporate hospitality packages, donations of goods, prizes or services. Or you may already hold an established event which could be enriched by making brainstrust benefit in some way.
-
Sponsor a campaign or service
Alternatively you may decide to support one of our campaigns, such as the network of specialist neuro-oncology nurses, the brain tumour bank or a PhD research studentship. Or you could provide us with a service, such as access to a meeting room in London, or sponsor one of our publications which would have your branding and would reach a national audience.
-
Charity of the year
Many companies adopt a charity for a time limited period. Fundraising activities during this time are varied and people work together for a common cause. Take a look at our recent fundraising events » This develops team working, boosts staff motivation and morale, and reflects your company’s commitment to the local and wider community. We can help you with your campaign and can provide you with a variety of resources. Just call us to discuss your needs.
-
Payroll giving
This is a tax effective way to help brainstrust by employees giving a small, regular amount from their salaries. This form of regular income is important to brainstrust as it enables us to plan and invest in our provision more effectively. If your company has an established payroll giving scheme then we are more than happy to come along and talk to your employees about brainstrust. And if you don’t already have a payroll giving scheme, then we can help you set one up. Encourage your employees to donate today!
-
Greeting cards
Instead of sending corporate Christmas cards, why don’t you send corporate e-cards this year and donate your saved costs (on postage and cards) to us? And you could also take some of our non-seasonal charity cards to sell in your office. One pack of cards lets another ten people know about our cause.
-
Match funding
This is easy and involves little effort on your part! Your company can actively support charitable initiatives through its employees, who then receive matched funding up to an agreed limit for any fundraising they do.
-
Cause-related marketing
Consumers are demanding greater accountability and responsibility from corporations. In an environment where price and quality are increasingly equal; where reputation and standing for a product or service is everything, brands are constantly competing for customer loyalty and consumer attention. 86% of consumers agree that when price and quality are equal, then they are more likely to select a product associated with a worthy cause. And 77% of CEOs and Marketing Directors believe CRM can enhance corporate and brand reputation (Business in the Community, 2001).
-
A presence
If you are holding a large, corporate event, then why not let brainstrust have twenty minutes of the agenda, so that we publicise our cause and appeal for help from other businesses?
