Why brainstrust is Bassingborn Half Marathon's official charity

Ashely Hawkins, the race organiser, has explained why he chose to support brainstrust. “I want to raise both funds for brainstrust and also to raise its profile. My second reason for choosing brainstrust  is a personal one. Four years ago my dad became ill and was taken into hospital for tests. Two weeks later he was having surgery for a brain tumour. Whilst the surgery was a success, I did lose my dad to the illness just before Christmas 2013. I want to do all I can to raise the awareness of this disease and raise funds to help brainstrust provide support for families going through the process."
